Considered a pioneer in the reality television genre, Bunim-Murray Productions welcomed CAU mass media arts student into their offices this summer.
Tre Hazelwood, junior from Montgomery, Alabama, had the opportunity to partake in the internship program after learning of Bunim-Murray coming to Clark Atlanta University’s campus through a professor.
Established since 1987, Bunim-Murray has produced reality shows such as Total Divas, Project Runway, Keeping up with the Kardashians and many more. The entertainment production company based out of Glendale, CA was invited to CAU by the career development department eager to see the mass media arts department and students.
“I felt like an actual employee because I was treated as such,” Hazelwood
said. During his three month internship at Bunim-Murray he worked on MTV’s The Challenge: Final Reckoning show in the logistics department. Breakfast and snacks were included each day and Hazelwood also received his own desk.
The best advice he got was to be active, show his face and ask questions to demonstrate his commitment. He was taught some basics of the standard editing software along with different positions offered in the post production aspect. Hazelwood will continue to pursue internships and educating himself. With this opportunity, he was able to identify what he aspires to do in the form of a career in the production field.
