Millions of college students across the country auditioned for the popular game show, Wheel of Fortune, with one Clark Atlanta University student to prevail winning $12,137 in cash and prizes, including a trip to Jamaica!
Dezha Lattimore of Fort Wayne, Ind. was a contestant on the family gameshow, Wheel of Fortune on Friday, Mar. 22. Dezha is a junior at Clark Atlanta University studying business administration with a concentration in marketing.
Tuning in to America’s Game® every night since she could talk, she made sure to be home in time to watch. After years of loyal viewing, Dezha began her journey to be a contestant when she submitted a video and application through WheelofFortune.com.
“I submitted my application and audition video a year ago. If the selection committee likes you, they’ll invite you for the final contestant audition either in your city or close to your city,” Dezha said. “From there, you play mock rounds in front of the contestant coordinators and honestly hope for the best.”
She also mentioned that solving the puzzles in the comfort of one’s home is nothing like solving it on the show. “I’ve been watching Wheel of Fortune for a long time, and I would be the first to call someone who made a mistake an idiot; however, when you’re actually up there for yourself in front of all those cameras, you understand how easy it is to make a simple mistake,” Dezha said.
Dezha is appearing as part of “College Week Spring Break” on Wheel of Fortune scheduled to air Mar. 22 at 7:30 p.m on WXIA (11 Alive) at 7 p.m.
During this week of shows, all the contestants are college students going head-to-head to represent their schools and win once-in-a-lifetime vacations, new cars, and cash prizes by solving hangman-style puzzles.
